    BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY

Breast augmentation — also known as augmentation mammoplasty — is surgery to increase breast size. It involves placing breast implants under breast tissue or chest muscles.

For others, it’s part of rebuilding the breast after various medical conditions.

What breast augmentation surgery can do

    • Increase fullness and projection of your breasts.
    • Improve balance of breast and hip contours.
    • Enhance your self-image and self-confidence.

What breast augmentation surgery can't do

    • Breast augmentation does not correct severely drooping breasts.
    • A breast lift may be required along with a breast augmentation for sagging breasts to look fuller and lifted.
    • Breast lifting can often be done at the same time as your augmentation or may require a separate operation.
    • Your plastic surgeon will assist you in making this decision.

Typically, breast augmentation surgery only takes one or two hours to perform. If you are undergoing a more extensive surgery, such as breast augmentation with breast lift, the procedure may take longer.

Your doctor will take as long as he needs in order to ensure the best possible results for you.

Not as painful as you might think. In fact, the pain of recovery is so negligible that over-the-counter pain medications are adequate to manage any discomfort felt after the surgery.

For most women, the breasts are fully developed by age 18, although some will finish earlier and some later. Even if your breasts appear to be fully developed by 16, we recommend waiting until at least 18 before having breast augmentation surgery.
